Kayak adventures

What better way to see the coastal geological outcrops by boat? Join Ridgeway Adventure and explore the coast-lines of the Northern North West Highlands Geopark by sea-kayak. No experience necessary as instruction can be given. Minimum age: 8 years.

We provide all specialist equipment is provided, including wet suits.  Full westuits for smaller children and sleeveless westuits for adults.  Suggested clothing is a swimming costume, light fleece, base layer or t-shirt to wear under the wet suits.  Wet shoes or wetsuit boots if possible, otherwise bring some shoes that you don’t mind getting wet a bit wet.  Woolly hat / sun hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. If you wear glasses, please bring a tie to keep them secured.  We suggest that you bring a spare set of clothing to change into at the end of the day and a towel.  There are hot showers and rooms to change in where kit can be left.  Please bring a packed lunch, so that you have plenty of what you like to eat.  Hot drinks and home baking are provided at the end of the day.

Choose between the 17th or 18th of August. The days will begin by meeting at  our car park at Skerricha at 10am and finishes at 4.30pm after hot showers and home made afternoon tea.

Depending on experience, the day starts with a skills session and introduction to good paddling techniques whilst paddling around Loch a’ Chad-Fi.  At lunch time, it is possible to see John Ridgway’s Atlantic rowing boat and Rebecca’s Cape Horn kayak if you wish.  In the afternoon, depending on the weather, we go for a short journey into Loch Laxford which offers a variety of interesting paddling with remote coves, islands, wildlife and dramatic land and seascapes.  We aim not to get anyone wet!
